Announced commitments
The three largest announcements come from US hyperscalers and centre on cloud, AI and data centres. Khaleej Times put the three groups’ combined commitments at about USD 67.5 bn (Amazon 35, Microsoft 17.5, Google 15). The AWS and earlier Microsoft rows are shown for context. All companies below are public examples, not clients.
| Company | Home country | What | Where | Value | Date | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon | USA | Investment across all India business lines through 2030, built on AI-driven digitisation, export growth and job creation | India (all business lines) | Over USD 35 bn | 10 Dec 2025 | Business Standard, 10 Dec 2025 (secondary) |
| Amazon Web Services | USA | MoU with the Maharashtra government, signed at Davos, for cloud infrastructure in the AWS Mumbai region by 2030; part of the USD 12.7 bn India plan AWS announced in May 2023 | Maharashtra (AWS Mumbai region) | USD 8.3 bn | 22 Jan 2025 | About Amazon India, 22 Jan 2025; Amazon press release, 18 May 2023 |

Note: These are announced commitments, not completed investments. Amounts and periods are as reported; spending is phased over the periods shown. Company announcements are as reported by Business Standard on 10 December 2025 (Google’s in October 2025; AWS’s Maharashtra MoU per About Amazon India, 22 January 2025).
What the announcements have in common
- Cloud and AI infrastructure. Microsoft’s plan covers cloud and AI infrastructure, skilling and operations. Google’s covers an AI hub and a gigawatt-scale data-centre campus. AWS’s MoU is for cloud infrastructure in its Mumbai region.
- State-level agreements. The AWS commitment was signed as an MoU with the Maharashtra government. Google’s campus is in Andhra Pradesh, which runs a dedicated IT & GCC Policy; see state incentives.
- Tax context. The Finance Act 2026 exempts, subject to conditions, a notified foreign cloud company’s income from procuring services of a specified Indian data centre to the tax year ending 31 March 2047. See tax and zones.
Other examples named in the brochure
- Tiger Global appears in the tax pages as a case, not an investment: the Supreme Court denied India–Mauritius treaty benefit under GAAR in January 2026 (Khaitan & Co, 16 Jan 2026; KPMG, 20 Jan 2026). See tax and zones.
What to check next
- Treat the figures as announced intentions when sizing a market; the sources do not report completed spend.
- If your plan depends on hyperscaler capacity, confirm the timing of the phased spend with the company’s own announcements.
- Check whether the state where a data-centre campus is planned offers incentives you can also use.
- Read the data-centre exemption conditions if you intend to sell cloud services into India through Indian data centres.
